The Museum of the Shanghai Tunnels: established in 2013!
The Museum of the Shanghai Tunnels is located above ground at 213 Northwest Couch Street, and provides a glimpse into the history of both the shanghaiing trade and the Old North End where this practice of shanghaiing ran rampant. Through artifacts, photographs, interpretive writings, and other educational tools, guests who walk through its doors will have a better understanding of the infamous Portland Underground and those who found themselves victimized. [SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: A small gift shop, the Cascadian Marketplace, is also available.] At this time, the Museum is open only to tour-goers after the tour.
